So last time our making of video introduced some art from the upcoming expansion pack. Now we get to look at how some of the art gets into the game and some more sneak peeks into the new materials. One clip in particular is very special, the one where Amadeus slides.. it’s gonna be very different and cool. 🙂 -Mikael
So we have announced an upcoming expansion that is still yet to be named. One thing that we do know is that we rather talk about an expansion pack rather than DLC. 😉 Anyways, since we haven’t made a “making of” video in a while we decided to make one about concept art and design, while also teasing a little about the new content. Here is a look at a “desert” theme and how it was designed from the start. -Mikael
All of the platforms are out and now we wait for more information about the upcoming expansion pack. Linux version is doing well and still has some issues that are being fixed. Thanks to everybody for all the help with that. Trine 2 is definitely still a project that keeps growing, but getting all the platforms out seemed like a cool milestone. Maybe as a look back we could try to remember what made it special. Let me know in the comments what your favorite moments were. 🙂 -Mikael
Due fan demand and inter-office interest, this is an announcement for the official Trine 2 Speedrun competition! We have not made Trine 2 with speedrunning in mind, simply because it is a game you want to take slow sometimes, but there is always someone interested in completing levels with haste. The video above is a good example of how a Trine 2 speedrun can be done. So to enter the competition all you have to do is to make a similar video and post about it in the link below. http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/trine_2__with_leaderboards.html As prizes, we will be sending out autographed retail […]
Linux was started in Finland and spread globally, so being from Finland we feel right that our games also make it to Linux users across the world. Although it has already been a while since the launch on other platforms, the Linux version (beta) is now available to all who waited patiently. You can buy it at the Trine 2 site. It will be available on other sites soon, but for now we are still fixing small bugs with the community and want to keep the efforts close to home. For more on this, check the forums for latest developments. […]
So if you got Trine 2 on Steam and maybe you thought the game was a tad too easy, you can now try your luck with the new “hardcore mode”. The hardcore mode makes the game a lot harder and is definitely a great new way to change up the gameplay. Basically what the mode does is that you can only use each checkpoint once and then you have to start again from the beginning of the level. Also it makes the enemies a bit harder by giving them more health and power. So it is an option that you […]
All jokes aside to the AAAA quality certification in the title, but we haven’t published an official name for the expansion. It is going to be top notch though. We prefer to steer away from the “DLC” concept. So many negative associations with that these days. And rightfully, we think that the pack we are making, deserves to be called a true expansion rather than just added content. Boasting a new story with 6 unique levels, added enemies and skills. A new hardcore mode, some bonus menu options and did I mention that the new skills can also be used […]
Trine 2 is now available in the European PSN store! It was released on Wednesday March 7th. As an apology to our fans in Europe (and our home country Finland!), there’s a 30% discount on the game for the first two weeks, and a special bonus for PlayStation Plus subscribers – Trine 2 is this month’s PS Plus Game of the Month, meaning that it’s free (or “100% discounted”) to PS Plus subscribers. Here’s a video that captures our emotions: We are as excited as Dimitri here! (“Next week” is now old news so the game is now out!) We […]
Yesterday we received the “Best Finnish Game Award” called Kyöpeli. It was voted by the readers of the magazine “Pelit” here in Finland. This is a huge honor for us and we would like to thank all our fans from the bottom of our heart. We have had awesome conversations with you guys on our forums, blogs and e-mails and we hope to keep it a big part of work in the future also. On our old office wall we had a huge amount of letters and comments printed out to make us smile and this week we moved to […]
There are few things you except to find in an icy tundra: snow, ice, some more snow and a large frozen mammoth skeleton! As I have mentioned earlier, Trine 2 is filled with creatures wondrous and unique, some just little more dead than the others. The Mammoth is one of those. Its structure is based on a real animal, the skeletal construct similar or identical to its once existing cousin. For more information, check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mammoth In game the skeleton is used as a decorative background, not really interacting with the heroes but certainly creating some ‘frosty’ atmosphere. Next time […]
This is a little clip we put together for those who need to know what the physical PC/Mac copy looks like. The CE version of Trine 2 on Steam has all of the extras in digital form, so that is an easy option for those who might not need the box on their shelf. As another update: we still have no word on the missing console versions, but we will let you know as soon as we get info. -Mikael
So now it is done, Trine 2 is finally out for everyone! Well almost that is. The European PSN version was postponed and we are pretty bummed about that as probably are many of you also. But the worldwide XBLA and North American PSN are available as the latest additions. This video is all we can do for now as there is no word on when it will be out. If there would be something we could do, trust me, we would be doing a lot of that. :/ But on the positive side, if you prefer to play on […]
