The long wait is over and the release info is finally here. Trine 2 will be released for PC and Mac on December 7th and the console versions on the 21st of December (XBLA worldwide and North American PSN; European PSN is TBD, hopefully we’ll have final info soon!). Linux to follow in 2012. So there you go, two more days until PC and Mac, plus another two weeks for the consoles. Almost there. ๐ -Mikael Edit by Joel: European PSN date is not yet confirmed, sorry about that!
This is FB_Esa. He will be one of the not so many, but very knowledgeable support helpers from now on. As a full time tester for the last months, Esa and others like him have beat Trine 2 some many times that they can likely speedrun it blind folded. If you go to our forums you can ask him, FB_Jussi, and other new guys almost anything. What you can also do is ask for people to play the beta with and one of our not so busy support staff will gladly slay some goblins at your side. That is all. […]
So it is not a great surprise that we are using Nvidia technology for a lot of stuff. PhysX is an integral part of all our games and 3D Vision made the first Trine even more beautiful. Now Trine 2 has Nvidia 3D Vision support too and all of you out there can go test it out right now, since it is already available in the beta. Here is a 3D teaser screenshot if you don’t already have beta access (Only works with the aforementioned hardware). And just to clarify on the multiplayer features, Steam now supports PC/Mac online multiplayer, […]
Today there was a large tech store opening here in Helsinki and in their shadow also the first place to play Trine 2. This is located near the Subway at the Verkkokauppa.com complex for all those in the area that might want to go try the game. We would love to open up more of these around the world, but right now we are just way too busy to make it happen. Hopefully this helps out some of you until next month and then we all get to enjoy the game. ๐ -Mikael
Now that Trine 2 beta is available on Steam, some of you may have noticed the achievements list also. Actually many of the achievements can already be completed in the beta, and funnily at least one of them can be done in our start up screen, that is playable this time around. Five achievements featured in the video and many more await you in the game. So this video is a little sneak peek into what cool things you can be working on next month, when Trine 2 launches. -Mikael
With the release of Trine 2 just about a month away and the beta already fully playable (to Steam pre-purchasers), we decided to gather up some of our dry humor and put together a small information pack in the form of a TV Shop commercial. I’m sure this ad won’t make it to any TV channels, but hopefully you get a chuckle out of it and maybe even like it. ๐ -Mikael
Yes, it is true. Not only is Trine 2 finally available in the Steam store for pre-order, but if you buy now you also get access to the beta. So basically the tutorial stages and the first stage, complete with online multiplayer goodness available right now. Nice. We here at Frozenbyte will also be joining in for online sessions in the coming weeks and will let you guys now about that on our twitter account. So be sure to follow us there also if you want in on the action with the developers. -Mikael
When you start up Trine 2 on PC (and Mac), we are making sure that all of the possible controllers out there are configured correctly. So far we have bought, tested and binded button configs for about 15 different pads and expect the number to grow to about 20, thus hopefully we can cover about 90% of the options out there. Keyboard and mouse support will still be available and better than ever, but if you want to play 3 player local co-op, I think using additional controllers might be the way to go. That is unless you and your […]
In this video we introduce a new game mode that will be available in the upcoming Trine 2. Unlimited mode allows you and your friends use any variation of the three heroes that you might want. So change characters as much as you want and finally get to play with three wizards and make a ton of boxes. ๐ Also we would like to remind you that you can still purchase the current HumbleBundle and get a lot of cool Frozenbyte games for any amount of money, helping out us but also nice charities. As a bonus for getting so […]
The Bundle is back and better than ever. Although I’m sure many of you have already picked up the Frozenbyte bundle, this is a good chance for those who missed it. Plus Frozen Synapse looks like an awesome game too and I’m sure to test it as soon as I get some time from this live customer support (btw we will be online a lot this week if you guys wanna chat). To make this bundle a bit more interesting, I have made bets that this bundle will perform better that HFB and I actually won the first bet at […]
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different outcome. So what do you call it when you do a whole bunch of different things to get the same outcome? Sanity? Maybe it doesn’t work exactly like that, but one thing that I am sure about is that in Trine 2 you can find almost an endless array of solutions to even the simplest looking puzzles. I constantly hear tales of how new people come up with weird ways to solve particular puzzles. Ways that we never really even thought about, but seem […]
