All of the platforms are out and now we wait for more information about the upcoming expansion pack. Linux version is doing well and still has some issues that are being fixed. Thanks to everybody for all the help with that. Trine 2 is definitely still a project that keeps growing, but getting all the platforms out seemed like a cool milestone. Maybe as a look back we could try to remember what made it special. Let me know in the comments what your favorite moments were. 🙂 -Mikael
Linux was started in Finland and spread globally, so being from Finland we feel right that our games also make it to Linux users across the world. Although it has already been a while since the launch on other platforms, the Linux version (beta) is now available to all who waited patiently. You can buy it at the Trine 2 site. It will be available on other sites soon, but for now we are still fixing small bugs with the community and want to keep the efforts close to home. For more on this, check the forums for latest developments. […]
So if you got Trine 2 on Steam and maybe you thought the game was a tad too easy, you can now try your luck with the new “hardcore mode”. The hardcore mode makes the game a lot harder and is definitely a great new way to change up the gameplay. Basically what the mode does is that you can only use each checkpoint once and then you have to start again from the beginning of the level. Also it makes the enemies a bit harder by giving them more health and power. So it is an option that you […]
All jokes aside to the AAAA quality certification in the title, but we haven’t published an official name for the expansion. It is going to be top notch though. We prefer to steer away from the “DLC” concept. So many negative associations with that these days. And rightfully, we think that the pack we are making, deserves to be called a true expansion rather than just added content. Boasting a new story with 6 unique levels, added enemies and skills. A new hardcore mode, some bonus menu options and did I mention that the new skills can also be used […]
Trine 2 is now available in the European PSN store! It was released on Wednesday March 7th. As an apology to our fans in Europe (and our home country Finland!), there’s a 30% discount on the game for the first two weeks, and a special bonus for PlayStation Plus subscribers – Trine 2 is this month’s PS Plus Game of the Month, meaning that it’s free (or “100% discounted”) to PS Plus subscribers. Here’s a video that captures our emotions: We are as excited as Dimitri here! (“Next week” is now old news so the game is now out!) We […]
Yesterday we received the “Best Finnish Game Award” called Kyöpeli. It was voted by the readers of the magazine “Pelit” here in Finland. This is a huge honor for us and we would like to thank all our fans from the bottom of our heart. We have had awesome conversations with you guys on our forums, blogs and e-mails and we hope to keep it a big part of work in the future also. On our old office wall we had a huge amount of letters and comments printed out to make us smile and this week we moved to […]
There’s not been many Splot updates here recently and I’m sure quite many of you are interested to know how that small blue creature is doing! I can honestly say the guys are working like crazy to get the story started, but sadly the exact release date is still waiting. At first Splot will be released on iOS (iPad, iPhone) and in Facebook, and after that the second wave will cover releases on other platforms. So, we wish you to be patient and trust that when Splot is finally released he will be something great. Here’s a small pat on […]
As the online conversation rages, we needed to voice our opinion as an indie game developer. It is understandable that SOPA and PIPA mostly effect American citizens, but we have had similar changes in Finland and all over the EU. We live only by the games that we create. We understand the issue that is piracy. But this is no excuse for someone to step in to break our internets. In a brighter future, we hope to see freedom from censorship everywhere. And that developers like us can talk directly to their customers for an open conversation and the mutual […]
So now it is done, Trine 2 is finally out for everyone! Well almost that is. The European PSN version was postponed and we are pretty bummed about that as probably are many of you also. But the worldwide XBLA and North American PSN are available as the latest additions. This video is all we can do for now as there is no word on when it will be out. If there would be something we could do, trust me, we would be doing a lot of that. :/ But on the positive side, if you prefer to play on […]
We here at Frozenbyte have just gotten Trine 2 out for PC and Mac and are still waiting for the console versions to appear. There is no word on the PS3 EU version yet, but hopefully everyone will be able to enjoy the game over the holidays. As a small feature, we thought we would show you some pics from our past. This majestic gingerbread castle (pic above and the gallery found here) was made by the Frozenbyte staff back in the December of 2003. Such a long time ago, but still there seems to be a certain affinity for […]
Trine 2 SE OST Front Cover Ari Pulkkinen has put a lot of time and love in to the Trine 2 OST and it is now available as a separate digital album. There has been a lot of questions for FLAC versions of the OST, so those will be there along with the Mp3 versions, for all you who want the ultimate experience. As an added bonus, this special edition includes two track that are not available anywhere else. They are the orchestral renditions of the “Trine 2 Main Theme” and “The Giant Dragon”. If you already own the OST […]
