Now that the official release for Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is only a few days away (August 20th!) and the Early Access period is coming to an end, we thought it’d be a cool idea to take a look at back at the last few months. For us, this has been a truly great experience. We have learned so much, and we’ve been really happy about the feedback we’ve received from the community. So thank you all for taking part in the Early Access! π You’ve helped us make this game better, and we feel super excited to […]
Last week we showed you how how this Splot Sculpture was made. We promised to also show pics from the creating process of the below Trine 2 painting. It was painted together by Maija (our writer) and Kaija (from our catering team) for our last year’s office Christmas party. Maija’s comments below: The Trine 2 Painting is something we did with one of my coworkers from catering, as a Christmas gift 2014 for everyone at the office. It’s a photography studio backdrop, and it took about 20 hours to make, we both worked after hours on it after our days […]
You may have seen this huge Splot, crafted by our writer Maija, on our blog before. We received a question about what it was made of. As it happens, Maija had some pictures left from when she was making it, so here you go. π You’ll find Maija’s comments below the pics. The statue started off as a big flat piece of chicken wire, which I transformed into the shape of Splot. On top of the wire was laid a thin newspaper paper machΓ© base to attach the wet wool on. Here are some of the tools I used: – […]
It’s time for part 3 in our βDay in the Life ofβ blog series. π This time we’ll talk about writing! Click here for part 1 (QA) and part 2 (Design). Game writing as a full-time profession is still quite rare. Here at Frozenbyte we currently have one writer, Maija, whoβs been with us for over four years now. She started here by writing the stories of Trine 2 and its Goblin Menace expansion (which together form Trine 2: Complete Story). Now she’s been busy with Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power, which is currently available on Early Access on […]
If you want to try games that we haven’t released yet and happen to live or be in Finland, now might be your chance! The idea is to get feedback and some fresh perspective on our games before their official releases. This means that we invite some people over to spend a few hours at our office playing games and perhaps engaging in some friendly chatter. The playtest sessions are relatively short – so this is not a paid position nor is this a job add (if you’re looking for work, head over to our Jobs page instead!). However, those […]
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power has been available on Steam as an Early Access game since April 2015. Now we’re excited to announce the game is also available for pre-order & play on GOG.com – DRM free, of course! Check the leaked footage from the Frozenbyte office: During the pre-orders, players will get the game for 15% cheaper than the official launch price. An additional 10% loyalty discount will be added if you own both previous Trine games on GOG.com. Also note that both of those games are currently on 75% discount on GOG.com until July 1st – so […]
We just released a new update for the game! π The patch should now be live in both North America and Europe. The update adds Japanese text localizations to the game. There were also some general fixes and we added an indicator that allows players to check which levels have already been completed in hard+hardcore, which should make it easier to keep track of their Trophy progression. A while ago we also fixed online multiplayer compatibility between different regions, allowing European and North American users to play together. We haven’t received any user feedback on this though, so if you […]
