Prince Selius Heatherwood
“You’d best keep your guard around me.”
– Prince Selius
Favourite spell: Piercing Shadow
The spell is as intense as the Prince’s dark gaze.
Prince Selius has been stumbled upon by his fellow students in the underground quarters of the Astral Academy, and joins their suspicious hunt for the Nine Parchments.
The fact that the Prince has been locked up in the dungeons by the wizards for some reason may or not be cause for alarm for his fellow travelers. He certainly does have interesting moods, each more sinister than the previous one.
Prince Selius has an innate talent for dark shadow magic, and he draws his power from the world of dreams and nightmares, which is why the wizards of the Astral Academy have started to call him the Nightmare Prince.

I was wondering will you make him a proper introduction… So there it is, no more wondering.
Tadaa! 🙂
I really like him as a character, but in-game he mentions something about the wizards at the academy. He says something about the doubts the other wizards had about him, how he would struggle to learn any of the spells and yet he does it with ease.
Is this because the “normal” arcane power is in conflict with the “shadow” magic of the Dreamscape? He has a really unique background, it helps him stand out and that was the aim probably.
Any info would be appreciated, cheers. 🙂
Hello again TheraNord!
When Selius says he struggles with his powers, he doesn’t mean the spell parchments. There are some conversations he has along the game, some with himself if you play Selius alone, in the later levels, where his voice changes. If you’re with Amadeus and Selius, there are some intriguing lines at the beginning of The Descent to Spring Valley, the level after the Glacial Den boss event; and after The Hollow Reef, at the beginning of the level A Holiday in the Highlands.
Selius’s fourth mood is also indicative of what is going on with the Nightmare Prince.
That’s about all there is to share about him at this time. Thank you for your support of the game!
Thank you for clearing that up, it appears I misunderstood the line.
It seems there is more stuff about Anastasia as well, I’m grateful. It’s really nice seeing more stuff about the Astral Academy, the world of dreams and nightmares, Alcyon as well.
Thanks again for the information. 🙂
Nah, I should have inserted even more Selius’s Shadow dialogue in the game for you to make the connection, my bad really!
Happy gaming in the fantastic world of Trine!
There is Mention of Anastasia’s master (or something) who Resurrected her……..
I think we may have a NEW Boss somewhere? Hmmm~~??!
Maybe even in another game set in the same story world? 🙂
@MaijaFB You tease with ease. I’ll be “patiently” waiting until we get more Trine/Nine Parchments. 🙂
Sorry, I wasn’t referring to future content, but what we already have! Here are some character responses to the question of who raised Anastasia: Amadeus says “I know for a fact that recently there was a dead-raising warlock at the Astral Academy,” Rudolfus says “There was a dead-raising warlock in the Vault of the Artefacts not too long ago. Maybe he did it,” Marvek says “I’d put my money on the dead-raising warlock who stormed the Academy earlier.” And someone with a track record in dealing with liches and skeletons did punch a hole in the outer wall of the Vault of the Artefacts 🙂
Hypathetically speaking, if this WAS True…..would that online co op be like Nine Parchments?
If so… I might as well give you my money now….
What I was referring to was an earlier game, Trine 3: The Artefacts of Power. The Astral Academy is a location in Trine 3 as well, and like Nine Parchments, it is also an online co op experience 🙂 But Nine Parchments is completely enjoyable with or without Trine also!
Oh, I understand. Though we never really got to see the Trine series’ main antagonist in full action. Not yet, at least. I truly hope we get to see more of the *real* Trine and R’Huna. Z’Rek has to be the most powerful entity in the Trineverse, apart from The Three Heroes.
P.S. I love the names given to them by the Dwarves. I have a question though, did the Dwarves know their true names or they named them something in their own language?
Also, it might seem a bit direct and out of nowhere, but do elves exist in the Trineverse? 😛
In response to your question: yes they did know their names, it’s just that dwarven writing is a bit special when it came to writing them down.
And elves? A mystery.
I know this is an incredibly old post – but I recently purchased Nine Parchments. I’m really enjoying it so far, but I didn’t realize Selius is so lategame… I was really looking forward to finding what these clips you’re referring to sound like, but I’m not so sure I’ll even get to that point of skill – whoops!
Is there any way at all I could convince you to write back with what kind of “intriguing lines” you’re referring to?
It’s a stretch, I’m sure, but I really love the characters of Trine, and the little voice clips at the starts and ends of levels are such an exciting little detail that I’d hate to miss out on what kinds of things could be learned from them. 🙂
One way or another, thank you so much for your hard work and have a lovely day. 🙂
Hello there! Sorry it took me a while to get back to this, but I’m here now.
For unlocking Selius, don’t give up! I believe in you! You can also get help from Nine Parchments discord server, there are still active players there, they have a ton of tactical hints and tips, links to guides and videos, and skill tree builds. https://discord.gg/7hedxpF
As for the dialogue, there’s a collection of Nine Parchments dialogue listed on this blogposting here: https://www.frozenbyte.com/2018/08/fun_adventures_collection/ This doesn’t include all the dialogue, but it’s our writing team’s favourite lines put together at least 🙂
I’m so glad to hear you’ve enjoyed your time in the Trineverse so far, thank you so much for reaching out to us, and smooth sailing in these trying times to you and your kin. See in you the world of Trine!
So Frozenbyte, I’m sure you guys are well aware about X Box and Nintendo Switch having some “”Cross Play””…. (leaving Sony out)…
Any news or anything like that about Nintendo switch owners playing with X Box (p.c. etc etc) as well?
Over 97% of all my friends came from Nine Parchments, I’d love to play (For the 1st time in my life) X box Users on a game I apparently love due to the amount of time I’m on there.
I’m really happy to hear you’ve had a great time with Nine Parchments 🙂
Cross-play with Xbox and Switch would be awesome. We still have to get the latest update out on Xbox One (Astral Challenges) and iron out all bugs before we could consider it though.
And before I make any promises, we’d need to investigate it a bit more to see how much work it would take to get up and running…
I understand,
And I thank you for at least considering. I bet you have to go through a lot of Signatures and jump through a lot of Hoops to even get it all done (once y’all update the X Box’s Version).
I don’t envy you guys at all, but I appreciate all your work that y’all have put in it.
I’m HOPING my Info/Data won’t ever be deleted Again, so here is to you guys!
*cheers*
