When you start up Trine 2 on PC (and Mac), we are making sure that all of the possible controllers out there are configured correctly.
So far we have bought, tested and binded button configs for about 15 different pads and expect the number to grow to about 20, thus hopefully we can cover about 90% of the options out there.
Keyboard and mouse support will still be available and better than ever, but if you want to play 3 player local co-op, I think using additional controllers might be the way to go. That is unless you and your friends really really like the key/mouse combo and have a lot of table top space available. 🙂

So we can assume that PS3 and XBOX 360 controllers will work with the game natively?
Yes, the Xbox 360 Controller will work perfectly with Trine 2 on the PC (and Mac too if using the 3rd party drivers). The PS3 controller requires separate 3rd party drivers to be installed first but once those are working, then the controller should work fine with the game.

And Linux? Will controlers also work on Linux natively (when the drivers of the controller is installed of course)
Considering that they already worked for the original Trine on Linux, I’d dare to say so. 🙂
That’s the plan yes. 🙂 But to be honest we’re still new to Linux so I don’t want to make too many 100% promises, so we’ll have to see how it goes.
Good news. My brother and I used an adapter to plug our PS2 controller and we met some problems with it in Trine, fortunately fixed by Patch 1.03.
Good to hear. I already use the MotionJoy DualShock 3 Tool software to play racing games on my PC as well as for emulating the Xbox 360 controller, haha. So I really don’t care if it doesn’t have PS3 controller support, as long as X360 controller is support, I’m good.
Oh man, I just realized. This is Trine! Forget controllers. Mouse and Keyboard all the way!
