Patch 2.0 - what's new?

For discussion about Trine 2, released in December 2011 on PC/Mac, XBLA, PSN, and later on Linux and Wii U.

Patch 2.0 - what's new?

Postby spectatorx » Thu Jun 06, 2013 7:41 pm (link to this post)

Few minutes ago there was released new, 2.0 patch, steam downloaded 437MB of fresh data. What the patch exactly is? I have no idea. I would like to see official changelog but can't find any changes in readme_changelog.txt.

The first thing i see changed is splashscreen/menu background with title "Trine 2 Complete" instead of "Trine 2".

Any dev, would you tell us more about it? In one of files i found note "v2.0 Final Release" - no more patches will come? I've read some times in other thread here there will be few more patches, not just one.
An interesting blog that i've found out some time ago:

Wondering the same thing myself. No update news, no mention here or in their twitter or anywhere. You just pushed this out silently?!

Yeah, this is what we have been referring as "megapatch". It has all those hundreds of small bug fixes and new features that were in Wii U version. Hopefully, we get some sort of change log published soon. In short, it's three things: 1) Bug fixes, 2) Combining base game with Goblin Menace (if you own the DLC) and 3) Dwarven Caverns level (if you own the DLC).

I probably forgot something important, but let's just say that's included in 1) :) .

fb_jlarja , what about next patches? You or other dev stated here in forums there are at least two more patches coming, one patch is released but i see in files it is described as final release.

Only the new low gravity field animation is something that bothers me. It is cool to see it move, but for some reason it just doesn't feel like a full bubble anymore. Then again maybe it is just me.

I don't really remember what I may have said or not. I may have presumed either that we would get a separate controller patch out before megapatch or that Dwarven Caverns would be in separate patch. We do have DRM free version coming at some point, and I'd be at least a little surprised if that doesn't cause some small patch to Steam version too.

The Final Release just means that the game is compiled with all optimizations on and without editor or debug data. Every release that hits Steam (even beta releases) are technically "Final Releases" (we also have Regression, Debug, Release and NoEditor builds for internal use).

Because I lost my save due to a HDD change I played everything again in singleplayer including the new bonus level. I'm done in 10 hours. Compared to previous versions 2.00 is by far the most matured. I only discovered 3-4 smaller issues. The biggest is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN5jaxJ03XU

This video is from 1.19 but same or similar in 2.00.

Well, that's not nice. Is that something that you can reproduce or just happens randomly?

I can easily reproduce it whenever I want. Here is a new video: http://youtu.be/ezJeLeMoI0w

The bug disappears when I switch through the character list. This bug however can be annoying because the place is gameplay important as you can see. (to reach the upper part with xp points)

I already played this level so you don't see XP points in this video of course.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I've posted a bug report, but since this isn't game stopper bug, it probably won't get fixed soon (depends also on whether there's some other bugs that require fixing sooner rather than later).
