I just love Trine’s details. I have told you about the library room that makes me want to grab all the books and read them.
There are also many other interesting visual details in the game. In addition to the library, my favourite is the nocturnal village. It is such a mysterious place: sharp roofs, lanterns, shady alleys, closed doors, bats flitting around…
There are interesting details everywhere making me feel like I am there, in the game, eagering to find more with Zoya, Pontius, and Amadeus. It is like reading a book that captures your attention so well that you feel like you can travel through time and visit places that existed hundreds of years ago.
Also I like very much all the giant animals that a player has to bluff to be able to move forward. It is so funny to see the frog’s cunning smile when it sees a fruit in front of its face.
How much do you pay attention to details?

Hehe, awesome little detail if you zoom in on the pic you can see that the tavern on the bottom right has a sign that says “rainbow lodge”.
That’s gotta count for at least 10% more rainbows.
And a +1 for the unicorn..

OHMAN HD SCREENSHOT

Now that that’s over, yeah, totally, I love the details people put into games. I fell in love with Machinarium the instant I saw Josef slide down a set of railings. It’s cool, awesome details like this that give the game it’s ‘indie feel’, in my opinion.
As far as graphics go, that’s one of the things I loved about Trine. You guys put tons of incredible detail in the neatest of places. Having a hidden chest is one thing. Having a beautifully detailed chest illuminated slightly by a faint green light is amazingly different. And I loved finding it.
So yeah, go details! And go HD screenshots!

This is the amount of detail I wished for Trine 2 after I had played Trine 1 and sent some bug reports and suggestions.
This kind of in-depth detail does not exist in any modern game anymore. Everything is “we have realistic water simulation and other graphics” but they forget the aesthetics of their games. Trine 2 has both, of the looks of it, it has extremely beautiful aesthetics and beautiful graphics working as a tool for those aesthetics.
From that picture I can clearly tell that my wish for deeper detailed levels has been listened carefully. That picture looks astonishing and I can boldly say that your game has the best graphics and aesthetics of the year 2011. Hands down, no competition.
I’m so going to pre-order Trine 2 as soon as possible. Keep this up Frozenbyte.
