The Story of Splot

May 11, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Splot

Daisy the cow is one of the important side characters from the Splot universe and many might not think so yet but the game will have a lot of story related content too.

This particular drawing is a small part of a story board that our script writer Maija has been working on for a while now. And also the whole project has been on for quite a while, just over three years to be exact, so a lot of content is in store.

We can’t really release more detailed info about Splot until very close to the release, but from a personal perspective I can say right now that all the parts are coming together very well. Plus the guys are adding a few final touches that are making the game so addictively fun that I have a hard time getting actual work done. :)

  1. I found the game flash-preview very entertaining, but there was no story included there so far. Hopefully, you will be able to invent something funny to complement the hilarious main character. Are there any news concerning the future system requirements?
P.S. Three years sounds like a big time.

  2. The system requirements will be very minimal, but no real details yet. As for the story, that should be a nice filler in between levels and we will see how it ends up in to the game.

And yes, 3 years is a long time, but hopefully that means that there is a lot of quality game to go through. :)

  3. Thanks for the reply, Mikael. It’s great to know that I would (most surely) be able to play the game on whatever old hardware I have/will have by the time it’s released.
The quality already shows in the flash preview, in my opinion. However, I think Splot was somewhat overlooked in the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle.
I read a lot of comments stating there was “too little information” about the game during the Bundle promotion. I myself have not thought much about it as well until I had a chance to try it (I initially thought it would be closer to Incredible Machine than Trine). As an afterthought, I suppose posting a single-level free-for-all flash-demo during the Bundle promotion alongside the “Bundle-buyers only” 5-level demo might have raised even more hype around the title.
Anyway, I wish you good luck in completing the project.

  4. to be precise, two of these three years was carried out mostly with 2 person team. and first 6-8month was (preproduction) testing/prototyping/design writing and so on. That preproduction process was a profitable, we received funding from the EU and a couple of other sources. (a total of more than 150.000e) :)
