The long awaited Humble Frozenbyte Bundle bonuses are here and on the top of the list is of course a cow, Daisy, from Splot.
What this means is that all of the people who have bought the bundle can now access a playable sneak preview of Splot from their bundle downloads sites.
This is still a work in progress and it is missing some cool combo features, but it should give a pretty good perception of what the game is going to be like.
And this is not all, we also released more bonuses!
- The source codes for both Shadowgrounds and SG: Survivor games.
- Plus the level editor for Trine, which has been on the fan wishlist for long.
So hope you guys enjoy these materials and happy weekend to all!
-Mikael

This is epic news. The Trine level editor sounds amazing. I’d love to see a bunch of fan made levels for this beautiful game!

Hmm, any chance of the level editor being on Mac/Linux?

You guys are the best!

Too bad that the editor is Windows only. And that it doesn’t work in Wine. But the Splot preview seems nice, but hard at first.

Actually, wait. Installing wmp9 with winetricks gets the editor to start. Yay!

That’s great news. Thanks a lot. Best of luck with Splot and Trine 2, I’ll keep an eye out for both of them.

Excellent bonuses, hopefully they would help to attract more attention to the bundle. However, I have a question. Splot demo looks and plays nice, but will the final release support the in-built Intel graphic cards (i.e. GM910/915)? The other games of the bundle have higher system requirements, so it would be nice to know whether I can play at least one of them on my current laptop.
Anyway, good luck with your current bundle and future developments.

You guys rock! The Trine level editor sounds great. Waiting anxiously for Splot and Trine 2!

There is no download on the splot spot? wtf is this?
Comment by tommis — April 22, 2011 @ 5:58 pm
I like this move, however it is a pity the chosen license isn’t GPL, like the other HIB open sourced games.
It would be also nice if the Shadowgrounds assets could be published as well. The source code isn’t of much use to average user without the game art, levels etc.

I think you should get the Humble Indie Bundle twitter to announce this, and maybe post on Reddit too.
Otherwise very few people will hear about this.

tommis, the Splot demo is not a downloadable file, but a flash-based web-page on the appropriate web-site. It can only be accessed via your Humble Frozenbyte Bundle page. Thus it is (for now) a bonus only for those, who own the bundle.

Will you release a native editor for Linux?
Comment by trine-fan — April 24, 2011 @ 11:07 pm
I really appreciate you guys releasing the source code to some of your games. It makes it so much easier to play the games on Linux in 2-3 years when libraries and such have been upgraded and the old binaries don’t work as well or at all. I also want to thank you guys for supporting Linux. Not many game developers want to bother to support Linux. I did buy the bundle and I have bought every bundle since they, so far, have included Linux version.
Again thanks for the games and appreciate the Humble Bundle you guys offered and supporting some great charities.

I would be nice also to see the source for the Trine level editor released or perhaps have Ryan Gordan port the thing over to Linux since he has done so many game ports from Windows to Linux.
