  1. Trine 2 goes Hardcore!

    March 28th, 2012 by Mikael | Category: Trine 2

So if you got Trine 2 on Steam and maybe you thought the game was a tad too easy, you can now try your luck with the new “hardcore mode”.

The hardcore mode makes the game a lot harder and is definitely a great new way to change up the gameplay.

Basically what the mode does is that you can only use each checkpoint once and then you have to start again from the beginning of the level.
Also it makes the enemies a bit harder by giving them more health and power. So it is an option that you can use alongside any of the current difficulty levels …to give them a boost in a way.

Other big addition that is available in the menus is a new of limiting the levitation skill.

You can now choose to turn off player levitation completely, or have it for be available for “self, friends, or everyone”.

Trust us, these options can make the game very different and add some more of that sweet, sweet re-playability.

P.S. So yea, tricks like this can now be disabled very easily (1:12)..

  2. Trine 2 expansion goes AAAA

    March 16th, 2012 by Mikael | Category: Trine 2

All jokes aside to the AAAA quality certification in the title, but we haven’t published an official name for the expansion.

It is going to be top notch though.

We prefer to steer away from the “DLC” concept.
So many negative associations with that these days.

And rightfully, we think that the pack we are making, deserves to be called a true expansion rather than just added content.

Boasting a new story with 6 unique levels, added enemies and skills.

A new hardcore mode, some bonus menu options and did I mention that the new skills can also be used in the original campaign?

    So yea, lots of stuff.

The video above is just a small environment teaser and we will be releasing new details up until this here “Super Hyper Extended (AAAA) Edition of Trine 2″ is released.

  3. Frozenbyte at the Humble Bundle

March 13th, 2012 by Mikael | Category: Frozenbyte, Humble Bundle

The guys behind the Humble Indie Bundle have lately (4 months or so ago) moved to a very nice location in downtown San Francisco.

So when visiting the GDC12 it seemed reasonable to go say hi to the guys.

And as you can see, there are no Frozenbyte characters on the wall yet, but hopefully we can get some of them up soon.

Or alternatively since we are also in a new office, we should start painting up the walls here.

Either way, was awesome to visit the guys in SF, thanks.

Plus GDC in general was great and maybe some more news from the aftermath soon.

  4. Trine 2 released in European PSN!

March 7th, 2012 by Mikael | Category: Frozenbyte, Games, Trine 2

Trine 2 is now available in the European PSN store!

It was released on Wednesday March 7th. As an apology to our fans in Europe (and our home country Finland!), there’s a 30% discount on the game for the first two weeks, and a special bonus for PlayStation Plus subscribers – Trine 2 is this month’s PS Plus Game of the Month, meaning that it’s free (or “100% discounted”) to PS Plus subscribers.

Here’s a video that captures our emotions:

We are as excited as Dimitri here! (“Next week” is now old news so the game is now out!)

We hope that the discount makes up for the massive delay, at least in some parts. And most importantly, we hope that you guys enjoy the game! :)
