  1. Frozen Bashing on Video, Lots of Goblin Dreams Being Shattered

    July 29th, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Trine 2

Very tiny little frozen pieces.. that is what goblins are going to be after you get the icy upgrades to the Knight’s shield and the Thief’s bow and arrow.

First hit will slow them down, the second will freeze them into an ice cube and the third, well let’s just say that after the third hit we will need a top notch crime scene investigator to find out which goblin family to send condolences to.

Also Amadeus can do something when the enemies are frozen. He can levitate the enemy and drop it or he can just drop a box onto it, both methods ending in similar shattering results.

So in this video we pretty much gathered up some of the cool ways to break the goblicles and made an icy montage to help with the summer heat.

  2. Kingdom News: Icy Shields and Arrows Seem To Freeze Enemies

    July 28th, 2011 by Susie | Category: Trine 2

    .
Two of the Trine2′s kingdom’s heroes have a possibility to update their weapons to a whole new and different level. That is to say, Zoya the Thief can achieve icy arrows and Pontius the Knight an icy shield.

Both weapons make enemies to freeze up. But what happens then remains to be seen!

Unfortunately, Amadeus the Wizard still does not know how to make a fireball. Poor thing.

  3. Making of Trine 2: Just a Shield?

July 22nd, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Making Of, Trine 2

What is a shield for? Blocking right? Well not just for that anymore.

In this video we look at a bunch of different ways to use the shield in Trine 2 ..and there might be a few extra ways that we can’t even mention yet.

  4. Cleaning up like Kings

July 20th, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Frozenbyte

So last week we showed you a little bit of how cramped our office space can get. It was inevitable that we really needed to do some cleaning up and reorganizing.

As it happened our CEO, Lauri, had an awesome, albeit time consuming idea about how to make cleaning cooler. We were to make a fort out of all the cardboard boxes that we had before we take them to the recycling bin.

After most workers left for the evening, a few imaginative individuals stayed behind and with the power of ale from the neighboring Kingdoms we managed to raise a castle worthy of praise. At least we were a tiny bit proud of it, until the next day that everyone realized that nobody can use our conference room before some real cleaning takes place.

We had a lot of fun, cleaned the office (twice) and realized how many boxes a small game company can accumulate before actually having to do something about it. Lesson learned and in our next office we will make an even bigger castle!

  5. It’s All in the Details

    July 18th, 2011 by Susie | Category: Trine 2

I just love Trine’s details. I have told you about the library room that makes me want to grab all the books and read them.

There are also many other interesting visual details in the game. In addition to the library, my favourite is the nocturnal village. It is such a mysterious place: sharp roofs, lanterns, shady alleys, closed doors, bats flitting around…

There are interesting details everywhere making me feel like I am there, in the game, eagering to find more with Zoya, Pontius, and Amadeus. It is like reading a book that captures your attention so well that you feel like you can travel through time and visit places that existed hundreds of years ago.

Also I like very much all the giant animals that a player has to bluff to be able to move forward. It is so funny to see the frog’s cunning smile when it sees a fruit in front of its face.

How much do you pay attention to details?

  6. Cramped for Space

July 14th, 2011 by Susie | Category: Frozenbyte

    We have a problem…
There is a human being in every single corner of this office. Literally.

It feels crowded here. Every now and then someone drops something or tries to find their way through extra chairs and other furniture we have set aside for the future. We have not had a comfortable lounge since… well, I do not remember. But at least our lunch room is not colonized yet.

Fortunately, every dark cloud has a silver lining (such a cliché but true!). In my opinion, growing out of your office means nothing but good business, so I am not complaining.

We are furiously searching for a new office. There are plenty of free offices in Helsinki, but we want to find “The Perfect One” with enough parking space and good public transport connections. Hopefully we will find it before than soon enough.

  7. Making of Trine 2: Levitating Enemies

July 13th, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Making Of, Trine 2

This round in the “Making Of” series we are looking at a new skill that Amadeus will have in the sequel.

Throw Goblins into spikes to kill ‘em or chuck the carcasses around just for fun after, just because it looks cool.

Either way, our Wizard is going to be able to help out a bit more now with this skill.

  8. More Shocking News! Now with video.

    July 13th, 2011 by Susie | Category: Trine 2

Pontius has been caught on tape while practicing his new skill, the hammer throw.

The hammer seems to charge up somehow and the lets loose a powerful shock wave on impact.

Let’s just hope he perfects his skills before going into battle, so his companions don’t receive any unnecessary collateral damage.

  9. Shocking News from the Kingdom!

    July 12th, 2011 by Susie | Category: Trine 2

    .

Pontius the Knight has learned to throw his hammer onto the enemies.

In the co-op mode he can also raise his shield above his head, and Zoya and Amadeus can climb on it.

More on this developing story very shortly.

  10. The Colourful Life of Splot

July 7th, 2011 by Susie | Category: Splot

    More revelations!

I like Splot for many reasons, but one is its visual look,
that is, in my opinion, quite simple in a good way.

I was happy when I heard about one detail. In the game you can choose the colour of the character at least from blue, pink, green, yellow, and purple (blue and pink included at launch). I have heard that different characters will have some special abilities, too.

There will also be special characters for example around Halloween. In the picture you can see Mummy Splot, who can protect himself from enemies, Green Monster Splot, who can swim through acid, and Spiky Splot, who can grab walls.

Some of these will be unlockable in the game, some added later for free and some as in app purchases. On top of the abilities most of them will have access to special areas and some other unique content.

    What character would you choose?
