  1. Frozenbyte at the Humble Bundle

March 13th, 2012 by Mikael | Category: Frozenbyte, Humble Bundle

The guys behind the Humble Indie Bundle have lately (4 months or so ago) moved to a very nice location in downtown San Francisco.

So when visiting the GDC12 it seemed reasonable to go say hi to the guys.

And as you can see, there are no Frozenbyte characters on the wall yet, but hopefully we can get some of them up soon.

Or alternatively since we are also in a new office, we should start painting up the walls here.

Either way, was awesome to visit the guys in SF, thanks.

Plus GDC in general was great and maybe some more news from the aftermath soon.

  2. Monday News: Unlimited Mode for Trine 2 and Splot Flash Beta for Humblebundle

October 10th, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Humble Bundle, Splot, Trine 2

In this video we introduce a new game mode that will be available in the upcoming Trine 2. Unlimited mode allows you and your friends use any variation of the three heroes that you might want. So change characters as much as you want and finally get to play with three wizards and make a ton of boxes. :)

Also we would like to remind you that you can still purchase the current HumbleBundle and get a lot of cool Frozenbyte games for any amount of money, helping out us but also nice charities.

As a bonus for getting so far, we are also releasing a new version of the Splot demo that is very far along. Still the Splot release date remains as “it’s done when it’s done”, but at least now you can check out how far it has come. (Splot Beta is only available to people who have purchased the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle or the Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle).

  3. Frozen Frozen Bundle!

September 28th, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Frozenbyte, Humble Bundle

The Bundle is back and better than ever.

Although I’m sure many of you have already picked up the Frozenbyte bundle, this is a good chance for those who missed it. Plus Frozen Synapse looks like an awesome game too and I’m sure to test it as soon as I get some time from this live customer support (btw we will be online a lot this week if you guys wanna chat).

To make this bundle a bit more interesting, I have made bets that this bundle will perform better that HFB and I actually won the first bet at 2h after launch against Lauri, our CEO. The next bet is against Joel our VP at the 5h mark, but it looks like I might lose that one. That is unless maybe I get @notch to help me out really quick.

Anyways, it looks like an other awesome week of chatting and finding out what cool things are to come.

Hope you guys enjoy, and do share the extra keys that you get. ;)
I’m sure your friends will appreciate them.

  4. The Basics of Serving Your Customers Better

June 16th, 2011 by Susie | Category: Frozenbyte, Humble Bundle

    -

In April of this year, Frozenbyte’s teamed up with the humblebundle.com guys and worked their butts off preparing the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle campaign. It was not easy for many reasons. First of all, there is a 10 hour time difference between Helsinki and California.

From what I heard, it was a bit challenging to arrange telephone (read: Skype) conferences… They also had to solve many technical difficulties and be prepared for customer service.

But the campaign was a success and the Frozenbyte team had great conversations with their customers and fans via the online chat application. Here are some of the most memorable comments and questions and some answers for them as well.

    1. “What name you would give to our computer game company?”
Belgian kids asked our sales and marketing manager Mikael.
“J.D.T.F.B (Just Doing This For Beer)”, he suggested.
    [The company actually exists nowadays.
You can find it here: http://jdtfb.webs.com/aboutus.htm .
Note Mikael's name on The People list!]

    2. “Who’s your favourite pornstar?”
    “?”

    3. “What do you do at Frozenbyte?”

    4. “What does a producer do?”
[Writer's note: We will tell you more about this later.]

    5. “Would you go on a date with me?”

    6. “How can I get a job at Frozenbyte?”

    7. “Can I sleep on your couch this summer?”
“Unfortunately, I am not a member of the couchsurfers’ clan…”

    8. “Why don’t you serve me faster?!”

    9. “I just paid $0.01 for your games.”
    “Thank you!”

    10. “Humble Bundle is really cool, thanks!”
    “You’re welcome.”

    11. “How can I become a game developer?”

    12. “How can I play these games?”

    13. “Will you be my girlfriend?”
    “I’m a man…”

    14. “Do you have a vibrator?”
    “???”

    15. “Zomg halp mah computah is frozen!!”

    16. “Zomg halp this bundle is too cool for mah computer!”

    17. “Can I have a free code?”
“You can pay like $0.01… it’s not much, is it?”

    18. “I love you! <3”
    “We love you too! <3”

Scriptwriter Maija also served a Spanish customer and a Russian customer with help from Google Translate. She was pretty sure that they both got what they wanted. Possibly.

Frozenbyte wants to thank everyone who bought or were otherwise involved with the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle! Thank you guys, you are amazing!

  5. And so the circle closes..

June 10th, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Frozenbyte, Humble Bundle

As Frozenbyte meets Notch, the only thing I could think about was that I wonder where Garry Newman is. But it was still awesome to see the person who did contribute the most to our charitable Humble Bundle.

Also since it is Thursday, it means that E3 is over and we must say goodbye to the hectic halls filled candy to the senses. So this is over and out from LA and more next weekk from sunny Finland.

P.S. the previous posts are now fixed and the pics work again.

  6. Three cheers for the bundle!

April 28th, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Humble Bundle

Over the course of about 14 days, the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle raised just over $900,000. A big thank you to everyone for making this happen, especially since out of this sum over a third is going to the charities.

Now we can return to our normal day schedule and sadly leave behind the 24 hour support chat, that started to become very dear to many of us.

Next on our things-to-do list is to fix up all of the issues that came up during the HFB, get the Jack Claw community going and finish Splot.

In other non-HFB news, Trine 2 is coming along very nicely and there are a lot of new and exciting things that we can’t wait to show off. So more on that coming up shortly.

  7. Milestone bonuses unlocked!

April 22nd, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Humble Bundle

The long awaited Humble Frozenbyte Bundle bonuses are here and on the top of the list is of course a cow, Daisy, from Splot.

What this means is that all of the people who have bought the bundle can now access a playable sneak preview of Splot from their bundle downloads sites.

This is still a work in progress and it is missing some cool combo features, but it should give a pretty good perception of what the game is going to be like.

And this is not all, we also released more bonuses!

    - The source codes for both Shadowgrounds and SG: Survivor games.

    - Plus the level editor for Trine, which has been on the fan wishlist for long.

So hope you guys enjoy these materials and happy weekend to all!

  8. G-man “high fives” Minecraft

April 21st, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Humble Bundle

The clash of the titans that took place on the top contributors list in the HFB, has now been memorialized in this awe-tastic piece of art.

This from the Wolfire artist, Aubrey Serr, also known as the guy who just created real competitor for the Sistine Chapel ceiling.

Let’s see if this kind of epicness continues towards the end of the bundle (hint: small bonuses coming up).

  9. @Notch declares Garry the winner?

April 18th, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Humble Bundle

Seems as if a winner has been found in our clash of the titans. Not only did @notch still beat Garry’s latest top list donation, but he also seems to be realizing that maybe an end must be reached at some point.

Will the battle still continue? We shall see. Also to be seen is yet another week of Humble Frozenbyte Bundle and maybe this week we can get a little boost in activity by others than just these two top list friends. ;)

  10. A bit of friendly competition

April 15th, 2011 by Mikael | Category: Humble Bundle

Looking at the top contributor list you might notice a few familiar names. Currently in the top three we have @notch who is Markus Persson from Minecraft fame and Garry Newman known for the Garry’s Mod.

Now it seems as the top spot has been taken over by the competitively named “Now what, Garry?”, that we can only assume to be a friendly gesture to see which famed game industry superhero will be able to take control of the top of the contribution hill. :)

This is very nice to see and further reminds us that we are in fact a part of  great community at large.

Let’s see how this feud develops and if more people join in to claim the top position.
