I liked the trailer. It really showed of the fun factor which can be had with the guards during your lethal playthoughs. I bought the game and am downloading it as I’m writing this (damn my slow internet!). But man, the reviews aren’t really good atm. There are just a few right now so I really hope there’ll be more positive ones as soon as the amount of them increases.
Yep, can’t say I didn’t notice the reviews. On the upside, we’ve gotten some nice reviews from our Shadwen players in the stores, so maybe we did a few things right 🙂
The game is real fun, strated a second playthrough and finished a project with the editor,a little more polish and I will release it.The reviews scare me a little but let’s hope it will be better in the days to come.I think people again expect way too much for the game that Shadwen is.Wish you luck!
Where can I find the editor? Is it something I have to download seperately? because I don’t see it in my Shadwen folder.
You can access the editor through the game luancher,it’s on the left side. The editor is accessible through Steam only, because it’s using the workshop.Hope that helps. 🙂
Thanks a bunch TheraNord!
I’m so glad you liked the game! I already went to the Steam Workshop page to see if you’d released anything, but I guess I have to wait a little longer. And thank you for your kind wishes, we’ll see how the dice roll.
How long is the soundtrack of the game? Is it available somewhere?
Hi csab! I asked our audio department about this (and told them I want the soundtrack too) and they started to look into it – I guess we’ll find out the answers to your questions sooner or later! Can’t wait to get a hold of the soundtrack myself 🙂
Thanks!
So what I got out of the audio department was that most of the soundtrack is made of multilayered looping sounds, which are not actual songs per se. If they make song tracks out of them, the total length (with the addition of trailer tracks and the ending title song) is 46 minutes and 4 seconds. Making song tracks out of the loops requires some work still.
Well I´ve finally been able to start playing the game and am having fun! I´ve heard there´s an editor to make your own levels, but can´t find it. Is it already out and where can I find it? I bought the gog version if that matters.
Unfortunately the Editor is only available in the Steam version, but if you email us your GOG receipt for the game we can send you a Steam code in return.
You can send the email to Support[at]Frozenbyte[dot]com, and please mention this thread in your message.
Cheers! And I’m glad that you have enjoyed Shadwen! 🙂
Thanks MarjutFB I just sent the email to support. I would have preferred not having to use steam, but if there´s no other way, so be it.
this is a good thing. thank you!
I ended this game today… it is really fun.
I still wait for the support mail with the steam code (since I got the gog version) to be able to create some new map.
Can anyone help me with this. When I try to export the mod to a fbq file,it just glitches on Processing Model Instancing.it says PreProccessing and I’ve waited half an hour already, should I wait more or something in the level can cause it.Can someone put little light on the subject? Thanks in advance.
The processing might take a really long time, depending on how long and complex your map is. For example especially PrecalculatedVisibilityBox placements can slow it down a lot. So, I just recommend leaving the editor on for a while!
I hope that solves it, but if you’re still having trouble please email us at Support[at]Frozenbyte[dot]com and we’ll do our best to help.
Cheers!
Thanks for the fast reply,I suddenly realised my map was not well made enough.I’ve placed Precalculated Visibility Boxes and I’ve waited 114 minutes.Next time I’m going to just leave it.I’ll also look at how the original maps are made,I’m sure that will help too. Thanks again! 🙂
Woohooo! All achievements are mine! Sorry for the gloating but this is the first game where I actually gave a damn. First runthrough was non lethal and once that was done the lethal run was easy. I already tried the editor for a bit, but that’s going to take awhile before I feel I can do anything worthwhile with it.
!!SPOILERS!!
My main goal was to keep Lilly with me even after I was done (I just assumed the option was there), but it was an odd combination which finally made that happen.
Killing nobody, lily doesn’t stay with me,
killing nobody EXCEPT for the king, lily doesn’t stay with me.
Killing everyone including the king, lily doesn’t stay with me.
Killing everyone, except the king….yay! Lily stays with me, but really what a strange combination for her to stay with me. I thought going totally bloodless would have given me the happy ending.
I really liked the game, even though it was a bit too light on story for my taste it was a lot of fun and I’m happy I bought it. I hope it does well enough in sales for there to be a second game eventually
Hello, glad you liked the game!
Have some Spoilers back!
The endings are deliberate like that. Shadwen will kill again, that’s her character – even if you choose not to kill anyone in this game, Shadwen is the one that stabbed Lord Taraniel to death and won the war for King Gwydion. Shadwen wouldn’t bring Lily along to her life of murder if Lily wasn’t aware of what she was getting into, and Lily wouldn’t go along with Shadwen if she didn’t show Lily a more merciful side of herself – which Shadwen does by sparing Gwydion’s life despite her initial intentions (early on in the game you see the loading screen to chapter two, “Shadwen was on her way to murder the King”, and preventing Rivendon from sliding into yet another war.
Writing Shadwen, I had no idea at all how all the bits and details of dialogue would connect in the players’ heads with each other. I haven’t really wanted to tell people about it, since I myself love having that “AHA!” moment when things come together, and didn’t want to take it away from anyone.
Anyhow, I hope my comment is of some use and/or entertainment value to you. Thank you for playing, and waiting to see your Steam Workshop levels!
Thanks for your spoilers! I really liked reading the motivation behind the endings.
That comment added quite some information about the lore, thanks for that.It might sound funny, but I was 99% sure that I’ll see Sarek’s Treemen as the Dark Spirits.:D It wasn’t going to make any sense though as they are in different universes. Are there any more details you can share about Lord Taraniel and King Gwydion? The world was very believable and the lore was well made. Thanks in advance!
Hello! It’s Monday and I’m back at my desk.
First of all, loving the Corrupted Treemen imagery in Shadwen x)
Not sure I have much else to share – I think all of it is in the game, but it’s all implied, or hearsay, or misinterpreted, or turned into a fairy tale. I think the story is better enjoyed as it is, rather than spelled out into boring facts. I guess I could say that King Gwydion hired an assassin to kill Lord Taraniel, and that the king didn’t handle that situation very well, which led to the events in the game.
Lastly, thank you so much!
I just uploaded a level of my own. I’s quite hard to make something which works when you have zero knowledge but I managed to make something which isn’t too shabby I think.
It’s called “Save Ratsy and his friends!”. It’s among my personal workshop items (my nickname is Jurattic) but I can’t see it yet among the other levels of Shadwen, maybe a time delay thing? I don’t really know I haven’t used Steam for a long time.
Hi there! It’s Monday and I’m back at my desk!
I can definitely see Save Ratsy on the Steam Workshop page, so I guess you got that sorted out 🙂
what is the song in the end of the game while credits?
It’s called Suojelusenkeli, also known as Maan korvessa kulkevi lapsosen tie. It’s a traditional Finnish song from the 19th century. 🙂
